What is the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp experience really like?

Dear Rockers,

People always ask "what is fantasy camp REALLY like?".  We thought our campers could best answer that, so here is what a few of you had to say on YELP:

"Next to the birth of my children and my favorite baseball team winning the world series, this was one of the greatest experiences in my life. For any musician who doesn't have the time to play like they did when they were teenagers, this is the ultimate rock n roll experience. The highlight was meeting and getting to actually play with real rock stars. I had the great fortune to sing a Who song with Roger Daltrey, sing a Led Zeppelin song with Dave Navarro backing us on guitar and sing "For What It's Worth" with the original member of Buffalo Springfield.

Playing with the icons and legends you grew up with was surreal and a completely amazing experience. That alone was worth the cost of admission.  But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The weekend is set up like a great reality competition show.  In the beginning of the weekend you are thrown together with a group of musicians who you have never met, form a band, get a rock n roll counselor and then jam and write and perform for the entire weekend. Ending up on stage for a battle of the bands. My fingers bled and my voice was trashed by the end of the weekend, but I felt like I was 18 again. Up on stage with blaring amps, wailing guitars and unbridled rock n roll passion. It is an unforgettable experience and no matter what level player you are, you will end up having a blast. You bond with a group of rock n roll lovers and in three short days your playing improves and you re-ignite your love of music.  I highly recommend Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp for anyone who can afford it. It is like Baseball Fantasy Camp but much cooler. "- Eliot G.

"A truly life-changing experience!  I first went to RRFC as a kind of sabbatical - I needed a break from the rigors of work and thought the camp would be a great way to decompress and improve my musicianship. Boy, did it ever!  I'm now about to go to my 9th RRFC camp, am in a band and feel as though I've satisfied my childhood ambition to perform music. I've met some amazing people, have some wonderful new lifelong friends, and have memories (including photographs and videos) I will cherish forever. If ever I'm feeling a bit down, I think about the camp experience - guaranteed to make me smile again! "  - Vaughan M.

"IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE!!!  If you love rock (classic or hard rock) and dreamed of performing in any capacity, this is the place!

For starters, they find out your interests and what instrument you play (novice to expert, you will fit in). They placed me in a band with four other great guys that were definitely experts (I was vocals). I had performed in a couple of musicals in high school and never performed in a rock band before, so I considered myself a novice.

Mike Pinera (Blues Image and Iron Butterfly) and Buster Akrey (Steely Dan and solo artist) were our Rock Counselors who helped us pick songs that suited us and gave us the input to fine-tune our performance. We ended up performing two nights at the MGM Grand at the Rogue, which is one of the greatest (non-family) thrills I have ever experienced.

Besides rehearsing for several hours, we also had Rock Counselors (Joe Vitale, Rudy Sarzo, Gary Hoey, Kane Roberts and others) talk about their experiences and who they shared the stage with. Every counselor was awesome and allowed you to watch when they performed with their 'camp band'.

Meeting the many of the original members of YES was beyond my expectations. We got to jam with them in the RRFC studios at different times (Alan White, Chris Squire, Jon Davison and Geoff Downes).  They stayed and took pictures with us and were very approachable. Steve Howe played acoustic guitar for us for about an hour (YES songs, solo work and old blues tunes). Watching him play with ease was mind-blowing. Jon Davison even stayed the night of his visit and joined in a jam session with campers and other Rock Counselors. Some of the members of YES even attended our performance at the MGM Grand Rogue.

David, and the entire staff were awesome. I will absolutely make every effort to attend another camp again the future." - Bill K.

"I gave this is as gift for my husband. He absolutely loved it! He says he wants to do it again." - Kimberly S.

As you can see, ROCK AND ROLL FANTASY CAMP is an AMAZING experience for ALL musicians and music lovers!  Attend either of our upcoming summer camps and live your rock and roll fantasy !

ROCK AND ROLL JOKE OF THE DAY:
Did you hear about the electric bass player who was so bad that even the lead singer noticed?

ROCK AND ROLL FACT OF THE DAY:
1967, THE BEATLES were selected to represent the UK for the first-ever global-wide satellite broadcast. The group agreed to be shown in the studio recording a song written especially for the occasion, scheduled for June 25. John Lennon wrote ‘All You Need is Love’ which was thought to sum up the 1967 'summer of love' and The Beatles' sympathies. With the satellite broadcast being broadcast to many non-English-speaking countries, the BBC asked The Beatles to 'keep it simple'.

Are there any guitar players out there? What do Paul Stanley, Don Felder and Richie Faulkner have in common?

Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp - You on Stage with Rock Stars. Jam, Write, Record and Perform with the World's Greatest Rock Stars.
Upcoming Camps EventsCorporate Team Building Programs EventsContact Us

Dear Rockers,
They are all participating in this summer's Rock and Roll Fantasy Camps!  If you are a guitar player, from beginner to advanced, this is your chance to learn from some of the best guitar players out there!  Paul Stanley (KISS) , Don Felder (formerly of The Eagles) and Richie Faulkner (Judas Priest) will each be appearing at camp, and will show how to do those licks and solos you've always wanted to figure out!  You will jam live on stage with them on some of their most iconic hit songs and see up close just how they do it!

We also have TRACII GUNS (LA Guns), PHIL X (Bon Jovi), KANE ROBERTS (Alice Cooper) , GARY HOEY and ROBERT SARZO (Hurricane, Geoff Tate's Queensryche) as rock star counselors.  Each of our incredible guitarist counselors are also experienced teachers and will be teaching master classes along with working with their camper band musicians.  You will have the opportunity to spend time and learn from each and every one of them, as well as the chance to jam with them on some of rock and roll's greatest songs!

Read below for the history of these great musicians:

PAUL STANLEY Paul Stanley is the charismatic front man, lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist for hard rock super group KISS. He is best known for his wailing vocals and high-energy, on-stage antics. He had a keen interest in music from a young age and has been playing the guitar and writing his own songs since he was a teenager. After a chance meeting with another aspiring young musician, Gene Simmons, the two of them formed their idea of how their "ultimate group" should look and sound. Thus, KISS was born and went on to be one of the hottest groups of all time. Kiss has been awarded 24 gold albums to date, the most of any American rock band. The band has sold more than 40 million albums in the United States and their worldwide sales exceeds 100 million albums. Paul is the writer or co-writer of many of the band's highest-charting hits. Stanley himself established the "Starchild" character forhis Kiss persona.

DON FELDER Don Felder is renowned as a former lead guitarist of The Eagles, one of the most popular and influential rock groups of our time. The band's record-setting compilation Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) sold over 29 million copies in the U.S. alone and was awarded by the RIAA the top-selling album of the 20th Century. Currently Don and the Eagles have sold more than 83.5 million albums. A member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1998, Felder served as a member of The Eagles for 27 years, putting his mark on numerous Eagles milestones. Felder originated the music and co-wrote The Eagles' biggest hit – the iconic, Grammy-studded smash "Hotel California" – along with fan favorites like "Victim of Love" and "Those Shoes". He became immediately celebrated for his lyrical, signature guitar work on legendary songs like "Hotel California," "One of These Nights," "New Kid In Town," and numerous more. "Hotel California" was recently voted the Number 1 best 12 string guitar song in the world by Guitar World magazine.

After leaving the group in 2001, Felder also became a New York Times bestselling author when his riveting confessional memoir "Heaven and Hell: My Life in The Eagles" proved a major commercial triumph upon publication in 2008 and went on to become a New York Times best seller.

Four time Grammy award winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, New York Times best selling author, amazing guitarist and captivating performer is the best way to describe Don Felder today.
Felder has not only worked with The Eagles but also in both sessions and live performances for numerous music legends spanning the musical spectrum: The Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Bob Seger, Michael Jackson, Alice Cooper, Kenny Loggins, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Boz Scaggs, Warren Zevon, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Vince Gill, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Paul Simon, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand – and even old friend, Steven Stills.
Don is currently touring worldwide in support of his new CD "The Road To Forever" which features some of the best musicians and close Felder friends in the business including Crosby, Stills & Nash, Tommy Shaw (from STYX), Randy Jackson (American Idol). Steve Lukather and David Paich (Toto). The latest single "Wash Away The Pain" has reached #4 on the classic rock media charts between Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones and has been critically acclaimed throughout the industry.

RICHIE FAULKNER Richie joined Judas Priest in 2011 and has since established himself as a shining star within the band! His amazing guitar playing and showmanship is second to none and has brought renewed energy and excitement to Judas Priest who continue to go from strength to strength.

TRACII GUNS best known as the founder of glam metal group L.A. Guns, as well as the supergroups Brides of Destruction, Contraband and Devil City Angels. Tracii's first major adventure in music was in 1983 when he formed L.A. Guns. In 1985 Tracii formed a new band with Hollywood Rose frontman Axl Rose. They put the two band names together; Guns 'N' Roses was born, but they both finally went separate ways and Tracii rejoined L.A. Guns.

In 1993 Tracii participated in the supergroup Contraband with Michael Schenker (Scorpions, UFO), Bobby Blotzer (Ratt), Share Pedersen (Vixen), and Richard Black(Shark Island). The band released only one self-titled album in 1991.
In late 2002 Tracii decided to join Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx to create the project Brides of Destruction, signing on as lead guitarist.
TRACII has been part of the hit Las Vegas show RAIDING THE ROCK VAULT from the very beginning and is currently on tour across the country performing LA Guns debut CD in it's entirety...

PHIL X has recorded with Alice Cooper, Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigneand Chris Cornell, and performed with Tommy Lee, Stewart Copeland, Rob Zombie/Lionel Richie (The Tonight Show with Jay Leno 2006) and is currently the lead guitarist for and is recording with Bon Jovi.

His band, Phil X & The Drills, have released 3 CDs, bringing the ROCK to a rapidly growing worldwide fan base. Phil hosts a YouTube vintage guitar show, Fretted Americana, boasting over 40 million views, and travels as a clinician (4 countries in Asia in November 2012 and UK, Germany and France in 2014).In 2016, Fretted Americana videos keep rolling out, Phil's session career continues to bloom,
THE DRILLS prep for a 4th CD release and a "behind the scenes" documentary featuring some of the worlds greatest drummers, gigs continue with Bon Jovi & the Kings Of Suburbia and his endorsements grow with Framus Guitars, Friedman Amplifiers and Jim Dunlop Guitar Products.

KANE ROBERTS Kane was discovered by Bob Ezrin (Kiss, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd) and became Alice´s guitarist/writing partner for two albums and two world tours including the infamous "The Nightmare Returns" tour.

Kane´s experience in the entertainment industry includes recording for high profile companies that include Geffen, Capitol, A&M and MCA.
As a solo recording artist he´s landed Top 40 hitsat Geffen Records and MCA records and his varied musical background includes recording, writing and touring with artists such as Alice Cooper, Rod Stewart, Kiss, Desmond Child, Diane Warren, Alice ´n Chains, Berlin, Guns n´ Roses, Garland Jeffries.

Kane is also very fimililar with our headliner PAUL STANELY, as he co-wrote the track "TAKE IT OFF" from KISS's REVENGE album.

GARY HOEY Hoey’s first break came in 1987 when Ozzy Osbourne showed up in Boston looking for a guitarist. Osborne liked Hoey’s tape enough to fly him to LA for an audition. The gig went to Zakk Wylde but Ozzy suggested Hoey move to LA seeing his talent.  He took Ozzy’s advice and drove across country to LA. In 1992 Hoey released  “Heavy Bones” on Warner Bros. a rock vocal album with Frankie Banali on drums from Quiet Riot.

1993 Hoey asked Warner Bros. if he could record a low budget album for fun of instrumental rock.  He recorded the successful “Animal Instinct” album ($15,000 budget) which included a cover of the Focus hit, “Hocus Pocus”.  Not only did the hit rocket into the Billboard Top 5, outpacing all other singles as the most frequently played rock song of the year, but the album went on to reach classic rock notoriety.
With a collection of 19 albums it’s no wonder Gary Hoey is listed as one of the top 100 guitarists of all time.

1994 Hoey scored the successful “Endless Summer II” soundtrack and had another radio hit with War’s “Low Rider.”   Other film clients have included Walt Disney films, ESPN, New Line Cinema, scoring the music to “California Screaming” (Disney Roller Coaster), as well as songs placed in movies such as “Office Space,” “Deck the Halls” (Danny Devito), and Beethoven III.

Recently, Hoey produced and co-wrote The Queen Of Metal Lita Ford’s latest release “Living Like Runaway” for SPV records to rave reviews. “It was a thrill to work with Lita… She is a true rocker and a pioneer for woman in rock. And lastly, she’s an awesome guitar player”. Gary is currently on tour playing across the country.

ROBERT SARZO nicknamed The VuDu Man, his career has spanned 40 years. He has worked with an array of notable and iconic people in the entertainment industry. As a bit of trivia, he was hired by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, as the original replacement for Randy Rhoads. Robert never went on tour with Ozzy because Jet Records' Don Arden, also Sharon's father, had hired a different guitarist, Bernie Torme, without telling anyone.

Robert has worked with Interscope/Universal Record's Jimmy Iovine and legendary metal producers, Bob Ezrin and Mike Clink. He also worked with Robert Stigwood of "Saturday Night Fever" and Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts" fame on numerous soundtracks such as "Times Square", D.L. Byron the writer of Pat Benatar's hit "Shadows of the Night", Reggae artist Garland Jeffreys, and the late Sam Kinison on his "Leader of the Banned" album. Robert formed his band Hurricane in the early 80's and went on to have hits such as "Over the Edge" and their #1 hit "I'm Onto You."

In the early 1980s, Robert was introduced to bassist Tony Cavazo by Los Angeles heavy metal band Quiet Riot's lead vocalist Kevin DuBrow. Both Robert's brother Rudy and Cavazo's brother Carlos were in Quiet Riot at the time. He later joined with Cavazo, singer Kelly Hansen and drummer Jay Schellen to form the glam metal band Hurricane.

Not just a heavy metal/rock and roll guitarist with a classical background, Robert Sarzo has branched out to become a producer and movie music composer.Include the movies, "The Hiss", written and produced by David Lynch's daughter, Jennifer, and the 2009 wide-release "The Collector" written and produced by Marcus Dunstan writer of Saw 4, 5, & 6.
On January 25, 2013, it was announced that Sarzo had joined Geoff Tate's lineup after he was expelled from Queensryche. This band already included his brother Rudy. This is the first time the Sarzo brothers have played together in a national act.
In July 2013, Robert Sarzo released his first solo album, After The Storm, the album was released on 4818 Records and reached number #1 Best Sellers for a straight three weeks on Amazon mp3 Latin ROCK.

Current projects are Hurricane, A Salute To Santana and his 80 Proof VuDu Blues band.
