I was home Sunday night finishing the last 10 pages of Joe Perry’s new autobiography, “Rocks: My Life In And Out Of Aerosmith,” when the phone rang at 9 p.m.
“Hi David, it’s Joe Perry. I’m in Chicago promoting my book.”
As an avid reader of rock books over the years, I have to admit that I was blown away by this one. I told him and I now I’m telling you that this book is one of the best I’ve ever read. I’ve heard many of the stories over the years and I’ve read about many of them in a book written about Aerosmith just a few years ago by Steven Davis. But in this book, Joe tells his side of the story and it’s amazing.
My two quick takeaways from the book were:
1. Joe is very loyal to his wife and unlike some other rockers, does not like to brag about all the groupies and wild times. In fact, the only one he mentions is Judy Carne from “Laugh-In.” Note: Frankly, I’ve heard the same story from the late Davy Jones.
2. Although the band has accused past management of ripping them off, Joe admits that the band should take some responsibility. Of course he’s honest about the drug use, the musical stories and collaborations, the ups and downs of the band, and their relationship within the group.
I was touched when he told me that appearing at Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp last year was an incredibly magical experience for him, and that it helped motivate him to finish his book. Wow! So not only are we helping your dreams come true by letting you meet and jam with legends like Joe, we’re helping hisdreams come true too. Now that’s a win for everyone!
Two things I want you to do right now. (coffee can wait).
1. Get your hands on this book by clicking here immediately and start reading what I consider to be, one of the greatest rock books of all time! And spread the word about it to your rocker friends or fans of the band.
2. I’d like to invite all of you to come jam with Joe Perry at our next camp at Foxwoods Resort Casino on Jan 15-19 (MLK weekend). This is a gift you will want to give a loved one or even yourself. Joining Joe will be Steve Morse of The Dixie Dregs and Deep Purple and Lou Gramm, the original lead singer of Foreigner.
Imagine jamming and performing the hits with these superstars. I’m personally going to buy a bunch of books and give an autographed copy to everyone who signs up!
Your dream is out there waiting for you and grab it. This is your chance. Don’t miss out!
Sincerely,
David Fishof
