Artist Spotlight!
Brad Whitford (Aerosmith)
As an original member of AEROSMITH--Brad Whitford is known for his guitar prowess and co-writing some of the group's standout tracks, including "Round and Round," "Nobody's Fault," and the funk-rocker "Last Child.” Along with fellow AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry, Whitford was included in the Guitar Worldbook, The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2007.

Upon growing up in Reading, MA, Whitforddiscovered such blues-based hard rock acts as Led Zeppelin and Humble Pie, which would shape his playing style that would become an important ingredient to the now-identifiable AEROSMITH sound. After attending the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston during the early '70s, Whitford was invited to join up with AEROSMITH, who were still and up-and-coming local Boston band at the time. "The first time I played with Brad, it just seemed to work,” says Joe Perry. "The chemistry was right." Whitford and AEROSMITH slowly but surely built up a solid following by non-stop touring and by the end of the ‘70s they became one of the decade's most popular and influential acts.

In 1980, Brad left AEROSMITH and teamed up with Derek St. Holmes who previously played with Ted Nugent to form Whitford/St. Holmes. In 1981 they recorded their self titled first and only album Whitford/St. Holmes. In 1984 both Brad and guitarist Joe Perry returned to AEROSMITH to take part in the hugely successful reunion tour “Back In The Saddle.”

Outside of AEROSMITH, Whitford produced an album in 1990 for the Boston band The Neighborhoods, Hoodwinked. In 2007,Brad co-founded Three Monkeys Amplifiers with his guitar Tech Greg Howard. Brad has also participated in “Experience Hendrix Tour”--the concert tour that has wowed audiences revisiting the music and inspiration of Jimi Hendrix with an all-star lineup of music greats--since 2010.
