VOL. III-JUDAS PRIEST-HELL BENT FOR HOLLYWOOD FANTASY CAMP September 14-17, 2017
As we welcome Judas Priest back for their third appearance at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, here are a few things you may not know about these Gods of Metal:
Judas Priest was originally formed in 1969 as a blues-rock band by singer Al Atkins, who left in 1973 and Rob Halford joined the band.
The name JUDAS PRIEST comes from a Bob Dylan song The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest.
Following the success of their 1984 album 'Defenders of the Faith' Judas Priest initially recorded a double album called 'Twin Turbos' which was never released. Instead the material was split, with the more commercial songs appearing on 'Turbo' in 1986, and many of the remainders later finding their way onto remastered re-releases as bonus tracks.
''Eat Me Alive" was listed at #3 on the Parents Music Resource Center's "Filthy Fifteen," a list of 15 songs the organization found most objectionable.
'Screaming for Vengeance' album was the first entire album released as downloadable content for the video games Rock Band and Rock Band 2
In 1980, musicians were physically unable to put samples in songs, so the band created their own recordings of billiards, smashing milk bottles, and shaken trays of metal cutlery, to be used in their album 'British Steel'.
Found on the 'Sad Wings of Destiny' album, the song "Victim of Changes" came from a merging of two older songs. The songs were "Red Light Lady", brought by Halford from his previous band Hiroshima, and "Whiskey Woman", a stage classic since the time of the first Judas Priest led by Al Atkins.

Rock and Roll Fact of the Day:
1968, Deep Purple made their live debut at a gig in Tastrup, Denmark. Formerly known as Roundabout, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore suggested a new name: Deep Purple, named after his grandmother's favourite song (which had been a hit for Peter De Rose), after his grandmother had repeatedly asked if they would be performing the song.

1963, The Beatles first US album, Introducing The Beatles was pressed by Vee-Jay Records, who thought they had obtained the legal rights from EMI affiliate, Trans-Global Records. When it was finally released in January, 1964, Capitol Records would hit Vee Jay with an injunction against manufacturing, distributing, advertising, or otherwise disposing of records by the Beatles. After a trial, Vee-Jay was allowed to release any Beatles records that they had masters of in any form until October 15th, 1964. After that time, they no longer had the right to issue any Beatles product.
