It's our turn to THANK YOU!

 
 

Dear Rockers,


On March 29, 2015 Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp will hold it's 1st Annual Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp Hall of Fame Ceremony. Due to overwhelming response, we are extending the submission process another week-ending on February 23, 2105.  Nominations are open to all past campers who have attended a rock camp in the past 19 years.  Please pass this on to any past campers you may know-we want everyone's participation, as you all have such incredible stories!

When: Sunday March 29, 2015 

Where: House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, NV.

The event will feature the award ceremony, live musical performances and will be streamed live on the internet.

We will be honoring Campers who have been inspired by their participation in Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp to further their musical endeavors and dreams. In addition to your stories, nomination will be based on the following criteria:

•   Did you pick up your instrument of choice after many years of not playing and finally ended up to creating music again or writing or recording new songs?        or



•   Have you gone on to write and/or record a new CD?       or

•   

Did you get your old band back together or form a new band for jams, gigs, live shows or did you even join a touring band?

Don't forget, next up is CHEAP TRICK and BLUE OYSTER CULT  March 5-8-These legendary bands are going to be jamming all their classic hits with the campers, telling road stories, and answering the questions you've always wanted to ask...
Bad Company's Simon Kirke will be leading a special songwriting camp as well-a not to be missed experience...
 
 
The next camps are our special Southern Rock camp-The 38 Special camp,  and the heavy hitting Masters of Metal camp -featuring guitar God Michael Schenker(Scorpions, UFO) , the Godfather of Heavy Metal Drumming Bill Ward and legendary bassist Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple -they will be running simultaneously from March 26-29 in Las Vegas.

1965
The Beatles started a nine week run at the top of the Billboard Hot 200 album chart with "Beatles 65", the group's fourth US #1 LP. The record jumped from #98 the week before, making the biggest gain in chart history to that point.

1973
Mick Jagger is refused a Japanese visa because of a 1969 drug bust, putting an end to the Rolling Stones plans to tour the Orient. Asked by a reporter about his personal drug use, Jagger replied, "I don't take drugs. I don't approve of drugs and I don't approve of people taking drugs...unless they're very careful."

2012
Former CCR frontman John Fogerty told Billboard.com that contrary to his 2011 overture about a reunion with his former band mates, "I've heard through the grapevine the other fellas were really upset or something over that. So I sent back, 'Oh. I guess there's no reunion then.'"

Wishing a very happy birthday to Cheap Trick's founding member and lead guitarist Richard Alan "Rick" Nielsen!  We are beyond excited that Rick and the boys will be with us for their return to  ROCK 'N' ROLL FANTASY CAMP March 5-8, 2015.  
 
They have often been referred to in the Japanese press as the "American Beatles". In October 2007, the Illinois Senate passed a resolution designating April 1 as Cheap Trick Day in the state.

Today in Rock N Roll History...
 
1963, The Beatles appeared at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool. This appearance was the second concert-only preview of their ‘The Beatles' Christmas Show’, which would open in London in two days.

1967, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, The Who, Keith West and Tomorrow, Eric Burdon & The Animals, 1984 (featuring future Queen guitarist Brian May) and Soft Machine all appeared at The Olympia, London at an all night festival 'Christmas On Earth Continued'. The DJ was John Peel plus the venue featured a paddling pool, light shows and a movie theatre, tickets £1

1987, Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue was pronounced 'dead on arrival' in an ambulance when his heart stopped beating for two minutes. Sixx was given two shots of adrenaline in his chest to revivehim. Fellow band members were prematurely informed of his death.

2002, Former Clash singer and guitarist Joe Strummer (John Graham Mellor) died of a suspected heart attack aged 50. Scored the 1979 UK No. 11 single 'London Calling', 1982 US No. 8 single 'Rock The Casbah, 1991 UK No.1 single 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go', first released 1982, plus 15 other UK Top 40 singles. The Clash's London Calling album was voted best album of the 1980s by Rolling Stone magazine.
